Chrome Sparks and Machinedrum began their Spring 2018 tour March 20th in Boston. The electronic producers are co-headlining with opening act Ela Minus, touring the United States for the end of March and April…visiting Atlanta, Orlando, Portland, Denver, Brooklyn, San Diego and 15 other cities before closing out two dates in Canada…April 26th in Montreal and April 28th in Toronto.
Travis Stewart as Machinedrum has been recording music since 2000. His first release from the Miami-based Merck Records received praise from the IDM music scene. Since then he’s incorporated glitch, footwork and future garage into his repertoire. Regardless of how varied he’s become, Machinedrum’s frenzied pace remains – at times stirring the mind, at times stirring the body and at times both.
Brooklyn based Jeremy Malvin has been recording as Chrome Sparks since the early 2010s. His first releases featured Los Angeles based vocalist Steffaloo, who in her own right has collaborated with other chill artists, creating bright hypnotic dreamy sounds yet with curious and brisk beats which have defined the chillwave movement. Throughout the years he would explore into other electronic sounds, revisiting genres from the past, pushing the tempo at times but interestingly has not abandoned his shimmering, smoky and cold/sliver of a bright line style. Chrome Sparks newest single is “Still Think” and his newest release is due April 13th.
Opening act Ela Minus’ spacy pop stylings is too simple of a description for her. In short, she has a knack for walking the tight rope between quirk and airy breathlessness. Her release “A.R.P” best describes that.
Their Orlando appearance will be at the Social on Saturday March 24th.
Chill #38 will feature music from Ela Minus, Machinedrum and Chrome Sparks.
