Music already raved by NPR Radio and Pitchfork – Emancipator quotes “Marley is a “connoisseur of groove, a tastemaker with a diverse palette, who’s gifted in the dark arts of composition, production and turntablism” – electronic artist Marley Carroll’s brand of eco-influenced music is an obvious choice to feature. “Starlings / Seven Crows,” is the first in a series of double singles leading up to Flight Patterns, his third full-length LP on the Loci label. Its also been touted as music fans of Boards of Canada, Caribou, Tycho and Four Tet can connect with.
In promoting “Starlings”, explained as featuring spacey Moog leads and intricate footwork-inspired drums, Marley shared, “I wanted to evoke the feeling of a thousand multiform elements moving in unison. I wanted it to be fast, dense, elegant and layered and to rush across the speakers like birds in flight.” For “Seven Crows,” in whats described as a sinister dub workout laced with yawning bass, melodic chimes and hazy vocals, he adds, “The crows that hang out in the woods near my home studio emanate this spooky, ominous kind of intelligence. I tried to capture the shadowy feeling that creeps up your spine when you know you’re being watched.”
