Watch the video ‘Cursed’, from NYC-based, LA-born producer Beshken the latest single from the artist from his forthcoming debut album “Aisle of Palm”. According to the bio, it’s inspired by Maya Deren’s “Meshes of the Afternoon”, exploring the concept of living like we’re dead due to an obsession with personal progress.
Ben Shirken (a.k.a. Beshken) grew up in Los Angeles, where he eventually became influenced by the mixture of electronic variations of hip hop, ambient and witch house from the likes of Shlomo, Flying Lotus and Teebs. After performing as a member of Partytime in LA, he moved to New York in 2015 and began performing in the city’s D.I.Y. scene, where his multi-instrumental and ever-evolving live shows brought him to hallowed venues like Palisades, Elsewhere, and the now-closed Cameo Gallery. He recently finished touring in his support of Gus Dapperton last fall (2018).
