Listen to the Nicolaas single ‘No Stranger Thing’ featuring Lucy Mason – original version and Pages remix

Last March, producer Nicolaas debuted his single ‘No Stranger Thing (feat. Lucy Mason)’. This direction happened after he became creatively stagnant within the world of hip-hop, craving inspiration and a new challenge. Traversing the musical landscapes of the ’80s, synthwave, and funk has brought to the foreground a sound comparable to Breakbot, Gunship, and Kavinsky. Influenced by disco, boogie, and funk, his sound has been directly influenced by the likes of Nile Rodgers, Blondie, and producer Shep Pettibone (David Bowie, Madonna, Whitney Houston) while also channelling more contemporary artists like Daft Punk, Toro Y Moi and Parcels.

Two weeks later, a different version was added, remixed by UK producer Pages.  It took the original mixture of chillwave, funk and ethereal with a vaporwave vibe and upped the pace a little yet somehow found itself in an even more atmospheric position than before.

Listen to them here.  Both are available from the Haven Sounds label.
