Last Friday (April 19, 2019), Italian electronic and dream pop music artists Amycanbe released their four song EP “White Slide” from the label Open Productions. Its a collection of remade and remixed tracks from their last full album, 2015’s “Wolf”.  The tracks were mixed and re-imagined by musician, record producer, and songwriter Mark Plati of David Bowie fame.

Speaking about Mark Plati’s ‘Flow’ mix of ‘Grano’, Amycanbe’s Marco said, “For our last few records we collaborated with Mark Plati (who has mixed 90% of our songs since 2009); he really has a good ear for music! He has the talent to get the maximum potential from a song, as we envision it in our minds. For example ‘Grano’ is absolutely perfect; exactly how I imagined it. It has always been our favorite song from the Wolf album, and probably one of his favorites as well. He chose it for a remix (almost a re-work), which we would like to include here in this release – very nice, great fun!”

Plati’s ‘Flow’ mix picks up the pace at spots where the original reserved for more introspection and pensiveness.  While not breaking record pace or at least pushing DJ Trax benchmarks – the song does break down into piano and atmospherics – it does ascend somewhat finishing up in rocking fashion albeit compromised by the style expected by Amycanbe.  Listen to it below.

Born and based in Cervia, Italy, Amycanbe was formed by Mattia Mercuriali  (bass, guitars, keys) and Marco Trinchillo (drums, keys) in 2002 and became a quartet in 2005 with the addition of Francesca Amati (vocals) and Paolo Gradari. Amycanbe has had some slight lineup changes throughout the years, with Paolo’s departure and Mattia “Matta” Dallara (keys) joining in.

According to their bio, they’re inspired by legendary acts across the genre spectrum such as Nina Simone, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Portishead, Aphex Twin, and David Bowie. With their brand of dream pop, fans from The xx and The Naked and Famous to the Cocteau Twins will enjoy Amycanbe’s music as part of their collection.
