This past Labor Day weekend (May 24, 2019), electronic Norweigan composer Sverre Knut Johansen released his new album titled “Precambrian”. It’s his third release from the Spotted Peccary Music Label, but another addition to his prolific career spanning back to the mid-1990s. Subtitled “Geologic Time Scale”, the music tracks are titled after different time spans from the Earth’s Formation (‘Hadean Eon’) to First Mammals and Birds (‘Mesozoic Era’) and ending with the title track ‘Precambrian (Earth’s Geologic Time Impact)’.
In addition, for this album, he collaborated with modern ambient composer and producer Robert Rich whose influences have spanned two decades and multiple genres from ambient to experimental and IDM. He played on three tracks for the new album.
Expect an emergence of modern synth and atmospheric natural sounds…another journey…this time an expedited trip through the Geologic Time Scale (lifetime lasting space gear and an unlimited supply of oxygen included).
