Italian producer and ambient musician Mattia Cupelli has released a string of singles this year (2019), which leads to the newest single ‘Kogarshi’ released earlier this month (July 4, 2019). Any fan of Nicolas Jaar, Nils Frahm and Ryuichi Sakamoto but unaware of Cupelli should be happy to know how much influence their music has on his recordings. Expect a merging of neo-classical and ambient sounds with modern minimal electronic music.
Speaking of the track he comments: “This song is about something that is about to end. Perhaps it symbolizes the end of an era in my musical career. Leaving a warm space to go outside to something unknown.”
This comes on the heels (6/20/2019) of his prior single ‘Mono No Aware’, in which you can view the official video below. Both singles and others prior to that, from early this year (2019) and before, can be found on most digital platforms and the Mattia Cuppeli Bandcamp page. If you aren’t one of the 25 million listeners on Spotify (more details on that soon) and are trying to expand on your collection of Tim Hecker, Tangerine Dream and the other artists listed prior, then perhaps Mattia Cuppeli is for you.
More info on Mattia Cuppeli is forthcoming, but until then check out the videos shared on this feature.
