Two weeks ago (7/16/2019), was the 50th anniversary of the start of the Apollo 11 mission and Moon Landing. In honor of the anniversary, a new album called “A Journey for Mankind” was released by multi-instrumentalist Tom Moore and flutist Sherry Finzer. From its beginning appropriately titled ‘Dawn at the Coast’ to its conclusion ‘A Night Sky in Wonder’, if there’s any collaboration that is able to bridge the imagination and reality of space and the trip to the moon together, it would be these two.
In commenting about this album, Sherry Finzer shared this from her Facebook page, “I remember the excitement as a young girl. I remember sitting on the floor watching the evening news in amazement along with millions of others as we saw the first pictures and video of the moon landing. In honor and remembrance of this monumental and historic event, Tom Moore and I created A Journey for Mankind, released today! With the music, we tried to capture the emotions that we imagine that the astronauts, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins would have felt while on this mission.”
