For 2019, its apparent Italian shoegaze and neo-psych rockers Rev Rev Rev have moved forward on several fronts. Earlier in the year, they made their first trip over the pond into the United States for the SXSW festival, earning them a feature on NPR’s SXSW wrap-up as well as airplay on the network’s radios. The Modena based band also signed with a new record label Fuzz Club releasing their first single ‘Clutching the Blade’ and receiving airplay on various stations and shows including an episode of This is Chill on Mixcloud.com, click on the link to listen.
This has finally led to their new Fuzz Club released album “Kykeon”, out this Friday, September 20(2019).
Produced by James Aparicio (Spiritualized, Cult Of Dom Keller, Dead Vibrations), the press release promoting the new album said to expect a psychedelic drink made up of several ingredients, consumed during Eleusinian Mysteries, a set of rites, ceremonies and experiences held in the ancient Greece. Rev Rev Rev’s “Kykeon” is murky, ritualistic drone-rock including trance-like drumming, fuzzy reverberated guitars, tons of feedback and abrasive atonal sounds. But also Loveless-esque shoegaze sound with Laura Iacuzio’s shadowy, ethereal vocals emerging through all-consuming walls-of-noise.
It’s only two days from now, but until then check out another video below from the new album. Titled ‘3 Not 3’ the video has an unsettling and apocalyptic feel to it.
