San Francisco based producer Giraffage recently released (March 18, 2020) another mid-tempo electronic track titled ‘Basketball’, released days after the previous new track ‘Workout’ (March 3, 2020). Both tracks (released via Counter Records) are Giraffage’s long-awaited follow up to the success of his 2017 full-length, “Too Real”. Listening to ‘Basketball’, the song admittedly starts off a bit slow, but I like how the analog quirks grind through before reaching that airy ascending break, while not as frantic, nonetheless is reminiscent of hand-picked house songs that graced the soundtrack for Michael Jordan highlight films.
On the topic of “Basketball”, Giraffage explains, “Basketballs and sounds associated with basketball have such a distinct timbre in my mind and so I knew that I needed to make a song using them.” He adds, “It’s a weird time to be releasing music, but hopefully new art can inject just a little bit of much-needed positivity into the world right now.”
